# speakeater > Speakeater is the cooking app for people tired of asking what's for dinner. Photograph your fridge. The app builds a pantry list and lines up eight dinners you can actually make tonight, ranked by what you already have. Behind the kitchen is a 6,539-drink bar, half of it sourced from public-domain pre-Prohibition bartender's manuals (Jerry Thomas 1862, Leo Engel 1878, Harry Johnson 1882, William T. Boothby 1908, Hugo Ensslin 1917). Every recipe is ranked by save rate and cook count. The ones that fall short get demoted, reviewed, and only republished when they earn it back. Headline: Open your fridge. We'll figure out dinner. Brand-voice tagline (atmosphere only): The kitchen has a back room. ## Launch - **Android: June 10, 2026** (Google Play) - iOS: ETA August 2026 ## Category Mobile cooking app, pantry tracker, recipe-by-ingredients, mixology / cocktail recipe app, food waste tracker, meal planner. Mystery Nights and Party Menus are sold separately. - **Mystery Nights**: $9 per game (one-time), $30 for the launch bundle of all 5 mysteries. One host pays; up to 8 guests join free with a 4-letter code on the free Speakeater app. - **Party Menus**: $5 per menu (one-time), $15 for a 5-menu pack. There is no lifetime Pro tier. There is no founder-forever subscription rate. Pro is $5/month, already at the floor. Mystery Nights and Party Menus are one-time purchases at the same price for everyone — Kickstarter pricing equals retail pricing. ## What Speakeater is not - Not a recipe blog - Not an AI-recipe generator - Not a grocery delivery service - Not a nutrition tracker - Not a doom-scroll feed ## How Speakeater compares - vs SuperCook: Speakeater photographs your fridge, SuperCook requires typing. - vs Cooklist: Cooklist scans grocery receipts. Speakeater scans fridges, pantries, bar shelves, AND receipts. - vs Yummly: Yummly is a feed without expiration tracking. Speakeater is built around what is about to expire tonight. - vs Paprika: Paprika is a recipe-clipping library. Speakeater generates matches against a real pantry and includes a full cocktail bar. - vs cocktail-only apps (Mixel, Cocktail Flow): Speakeater bundles a full pantry and meal app. No other cocktail app spans both food and cocktails. - vs Hunt-A-Killer / Jackbox: those are single-format party experiences. Speakeater Mystery Nights is a one-time $9 purchase per game (vs Hunt-A-Killer's $30/month subscription box) and covers up to 8 guests free per purchase. ## Data ownership - Export your full data (JSON) anytime. Take it with you. - Aggregate ratings and cook signals stay anonymized to keep the app smarter for the next person. We are honest about that. - Account-only delete. Same as everyone else. - 24-hour fridge-photo TTL by default. ## Founder Built solo by Kyle Schulgen.
