Three to ten guests. Ninety minutes. One murder mystery you play with your friends. Speakeater opens on Google Play June 10, 2026.
Speakeater is built around three modes of an evening: the pour, the plate, the case. Each one ships. Each one earns its place.
2,400+ hand-transcribed pre-Prohibition manuscripts from 1862 to 1923. The full archive of American craft. Source pages preserved. Scholar-quality research, legible to a person at home tonight.
23,000+ recipes ranked by what's in your fridge from one photograph. Wake-locked cook mode. TikTok and YouTube link import. Already live in the Android app today.
Five interactive multiplayer Mystery Nights at launch. Three to ten guests, one phone per person, ninety to a hundred and twenty minutes. The app routes every clue. You host the table.
The cheapest Speakeater will ever sell a Mystery Night for. Three to ten players, one phone per person, ninety to a hundred and twenty minutes. The host pays once. Up to eight guests join free.
I'm Kyle. Solo developer. Huntsville, Alabama. No co-founder. No investors. I read every email.
I built Speakeater on native Kotlin, Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects for the multiplayer rooms, and Claude vision for the fridge scan. The kitchen side and the historical archive are live today. The multiplayer engine is deployed. The five mysteries are written.
Speakeater launches on Google Play June 10, 2026 — with or without this campaign. The Kickstarter funds the future.
Backer updates, Mystery Night invitations, and the free fifty-cocktail Codex PDF — sent directly to you.
Three to ten guests at one dinner table. The host opens Speakeater, taps Host a Game, and reads a four-letter code aloud. Each guest opens Speakeater, taps Join a Game, types the code. The app assigns a private character to each phone. Then every phone goes face-down on the table. For the next ninety to a hundred and twenty minutes the phones vibrate at staggered moments. One real cue lands on one phone, and a synchronized cover-vibration runs on every other phone so no one at the table can pattern-match whose phone just got the twist. Players talk. Players accuse. The reveal lands at the final course.
Yes. The archive and kitchen sides are live in the Android app today. Photograph the fridge, get a ranked list of dinners. Browse two thousand eight hundred and forty-six manuscript-transcribed entries. Cook in wake-locked cook mode. The multiplayer backend for Mystery Nights is deployed on Cloudflare Durable Objects. The five launch mysteries are written.
Android via Google Play from launch on June 10, 2026. iOS late summer 2026. Mystery Nights need each guest to have Speakeater installed on their phone. A web join page (no app required) ships for guests who can't or won't install.
Every menu exports as a PDF. Every Mystery Night exports as a printable host-and-player kit. If the servers die, your saved games survive on your phone. If Speakeater shuts down for good, all Pro features unlock for everyone via the final app update. Mystery Nights and Party Menus are pay-per-thing with lifetime ownership of the specific game or menu you bought.
No machine-generated content ships inside the product. Every recipe and every Mystery Night beat is human-written. The 2,400+ pre-Prohibition entries are hand-transcribed from photographs of public-domain manuscripts from 1862 to 1923. The food recipes are licensed from human-curated catalogs and edited. The five launch Mystery Nights are written by me.
